Why an Optimised Website is Essential
May 1, 2016
We’ve been so busy recently we’ve neglected our own blog. So here is a very short post to announce the new Google tool which allows users to check their site’s optimisation and usability. Search Engines penalise sites which are not optimised and have errors, so it is imperative that your website is up to scratch.
Not only do you get a result, with the new tool you now get a score out of 100 where before you simply got a yes/no.
This makes it incredibly useful for anyone looking to improve their site and any designers wondering where to start. Here is what your website is scored on:
- Mobile-friendliness: The quality of the experience customers have when using your site on a mobile phone. To be mobile-friendly, your site must be optimised, be adjusted for size, avoid plugins and be easy to navigate.
- Mobile speed: This is how long it takes your site to load on mobile devices. If people are kept waiting for too long, they’ll move on.
- Desktop speed: This is how long it takes your site to load on desktop PCs. It’s not the user’s web connection that determines speed, but the elements on your website, including images and complicated code.
Here is the site, try yours out and let us know if you need a hand getting yours optimised:
